With the progress to majority rules system following Franco's tyranny, Barça moved from a chronologically misguided arrangement of representatives picked by means of an attract to widespread suffrage. The races of 1978 were the primary completely vote based races in the Club's history.
On 4 September 1975, the President Agustí Montal Costa openly requested the democratization of Spanish football's structures and the equitable decision of football Club's Presidents. With Francisco Franco's demise on 20 November, the progression of Spanish life bloomed and football was no special case.
On 18 September 1977, Montal left the Presidency and his Vice President Raimon Carrasco assumed control. The choice was made to hold equitable decisions at the Camp Nou on 6 May 1978. Distinctive hopefuls were to take part in a decision battle with a really majority rule vote toward the end without precedent for Barça's history.
Three competitors approached: Ferran Ariño, Nicolau Casaus and Josep Lluís Núñez. Ariño spoke to coherence as he had been the leader of Barça Athletic. Casaus had a long history with the Club returning to the 40s, particularly in the supporters' clubs. At last, Núñez was outstanding in the development world and he had a message of restoration.
53,643 individuals had the privilege to cast a ballot and 26,477 or 48.6% did as such. Núñez won with 10,352 votes, against Ariño's 9,527 and Casaus' 6,202. On 30 June, the new Board took control and Núñez's long administration started, he drove the Club until the year 2000.
